Down to the Wire

One week from yesterday exactly until moving in to my dorm!

Ok so this is my last week with my Baby Jinks, my instructor’s 4 y/o Quarter Horse who has been my training project for the past year.  I leased him for the month of August and my time is almost up. :( I am very proud of the progress he has made this year. He came to me as a Western Pleasure pony and I have turned him into a wonderful little Eventer. He loves Cross Country, and moves beautifully in Dressage making him look more like a Warmblood than a Quarter Horse. :)  Show Jumping is another story. He is still freaked by the fake flowers and then tries to eat them… but he is 4, and we placed 1st in our last show in spite of his stopping in front of the “AHH!! SCARY COLORFUL FLOWER MONSTER THAT WILL EAT US IF WE TRY TO GO OVER IT!” jumps. (Yes I am pretty sure that is what goes through is mind when he sees the colorful flower jumps.)

Anyways let’s get to the point of this post… My time left in Texas is running low. I am all packed and my stuff was shipped off to Rhode Island without me last Monday. I fly to Boston on September 5th and move into my dorm on September 6th. I am the last of my friends to leave and that is frustrating. I have a week where I am sitting at home pretty much alone.  I don’t know what to do with myself. I am very tempted to drive to Austin and visit my best friend Leigh in Towers or fly to New Orleans to see another one of my amazing friends Tom. Then again I could just go see our College Adventure Slacker Wes in Cali. If only money grew on trees right? Haha. Then I could visit all of them.  I mean it’s not like I don’t talk to all of them on a daily basis, but they all used to be 5 to 15 minutes away from me. It is definitely hard to be the last to leave. It gives you way too much time to think about things.  I’ve been trying to come up with a few more things to do to keep me busy before I leave. Cooper gave me the great idea of getting a friend or two who are still here to go tricker treating around the neighborhood to be funny… I just might do that. Thanks Coop!

If you have any ideas on what I should do before I leave then please comment below. I can’t wait to read your ideas!
