Hi! I’m Allison, I’m 18, and I am attending community college here in Illinois. I just wanna use this blog to talk about some of the awesome oppurtunities I’m discovering here at my school! When I first started searching for a school, I was so sure that I didn’t want to be stuck in a community college. I wanted out of my house, out of my town, and off to somewhere big and exciting. But due to a shortage of money, which I know we can all relate to lately, it just wasn’t a realistic option. So I resigned myself to going to my local community college, often nicknamed “Harvard on the Hill.” I wasn’t looking forward to it. As far as I was concerned, it was going to be glorified highschool. But I was so wrong! So far, I’m in interesting classes with teachers who really care about their subjects, and because of the small class, they know who I am and I get to express my opion often. I’m involved in the theatre and music programs, and have met a lot of cool people who are interested in what I’m interested in, and so we’ve hit it off great! It is most definitely NOTHING like high school (thank goodness) and I’m really happy with my decision. So I guess I’m gonna be here to tell you about all the fun we have, the cool stuff I learn and what a great choice community college really is. Hopefully, it can help with some people out there unsure of what to do next with their educations and maybe entertain some along the way.
