I’m sore.
I’ve never been in fantastic shape. Ever. Having never run more than a full mile (and not even that without stopping), the entire ROTC experience has been a pretty serious reality check. I’m starting to get the idea that this is all extremely real, and I’m loving it. Yesterday we ran two consecutive miles as fast as possible after pushup and sit up tests. To anyone in good shape reading this, I applaud you for thinking that these things are menial, but I’m getting there.
The day before we had lab, in which we learned some essentials. These included taking enemy prisoners of war, searching the dead for intelligence, and destroying caches in under seven minutes (the alotted time before shelling commences). We also learned battle and patrol formations, arm and hand signals, and after-action reports.
More later!
