It’s That Time of Year…

It’s October – the cold weather is setting in, the holiday season is approaching, and I find myself in the mood for a pumpkin spice latte or peppermint hot chocolate more often. But this also means crunch time. I have decided to apply early decision to Wellesley, and therefore, I am in a race to get everything done and my application on their desk by November first.SAT, subject test, college adventures

This week I have redefined the word “cramming.” Taping my study materials on the other side of the shower, taking practice tests while getting my blood drawn, studying at stop lights…yep. That’s what SAT subjects tests have done to me. This Saturday I am taking the Literature, Spanish, and Math I tests. I have been so stressed out with my Arabic classes, regular school, the book I am writing, and the ministry I am running, that studying for subject tests was just icing on the cake. I felt like I was already just trying to keep my head above water, and at first I was not excited about all the studying required for these three exams. I soon realized that the only way I can make myself feel better and less stressed is simply by getting what needs to get done, done.

Sometimes there is no easy way out of things, and the only worthwhile option is to suck it up and do what you have to do. An elementary concept to some; however it has lately served as quite the revelation to me.

So now I am consumed with studying, and after I completely kick some SAT butt, I will be working on essays and obnoxiously bothering my teachers to submit their evaluations on time.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget why we do what we do; it’s easy to get lost in the abyss of things that demand our attention. We must remain focused and remember that it’ll all be worth it.

Now off to study — bye!
