A Sad Day, saying Goodbye to Tracy

I just came from Tracy Fisher’s funeral service. The sanctuary at Temple Shalom was full, people of all ages came to say goodbye to Tracy. Most wore pink in some form: pink ribbons, pink ties, pink dresses, pink headbands, pink jackets, pink shoes, even pink yarmulkes! We all know Tracy would have appreciated the pink.

One of the Rabbis said that there is no explanation for Tracy to be taken so young. He did not try to comfort or to find reason for it; he even said it was absurd to be in this position, saying goodbye to a vibrant young woman who should have had many years ahead of her. In a way, I felt comforted that he was not trying to make Tracy’s loss “all right”. Because it is not right, it is not fair. But the sad fact? It simply is.

My heart goes out to her family. Parents should never have to lose a child; her brothers should have had their sister for many years to come. For those who wish to comfort the family, I will post shiva days and hours as soon as I have them. To Tracy’s family: Hamakom y’nachem etchem b’toch sh’ar availai tziyon ee yerushalayim.
May God comfort you among all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Is there any way to get Jacob’s beautiful words from today’s service posted on here for those that were not able to be there? We found them inspirational…

  2. I believe Jacob has had many requests as he has posted his words on his Facebook page, under the “notes” section. I will certainly ask if I can post them here.
