Remember Lewis and Clark? The explorers? The school is named after them for a good reason: Lewis & Clark encourages exploration of the mind and unconventional thinking in the context of a liberal arts education. What could be better? Their location is pretty awesome as well: Portland, OR, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.
Lewis and Clark offers a college of Arts and Sciences for undergraduates, a Law School and Graduate Program in Education and Counseling for post grads. They offer this in an absolutely beautiful setting with historical buildings as well as modern sustainable architecture. One of my favorite things about Lewis and Clark is their first year experience program which is called Exploration and Discovery (kind of a theme at Lewis and Clark!). A two semester program, E and D helps turn high school graduates into college students. They read the classics, and they write, write, write…these are the heart of a liberal arts education.

Nature abounds on this campus with thick woods, deep ravines, and glimpses of flowing water. The Pacific Northwest has endless outdoor activities available from the gorgeous coast of Oregon to Columbia Gorge to Mt Hood. So if you are an outdoor enthusiast Lewis and Clark is a must see! As far as academics go, Lewis and Clark offers some pre-professional programs in addition to liberal arts: business, engineering 3-2 and 4-2 programs, and even a Student Designed major. So check out Lewis and Clark College, a small liberal arts based community in eclectic Portland! And tell them Tam sent you!
