Hello!

maddy, boston Greetings to all, sorry it has been so long! My life has gotten more than crazy lately, but that’s always an opportunity to learn time management skills! :P

I’veĀ  submitted my application to Wellesley for early admissions, and will find out whether or not I am accepted by December 11th. Eeek! As much as I would like to sit back and relax (well, not really, I have loads of other things to do!) I am working on my applications to Lewis and Clark, Lake Forest, Mt Holyoke and the University of Puget Sound. To any seniors out there — do NOT sit back after you submit an early decision application and just hope you get in! We have to be realistic, and it would be better to do some extra applications and be prepared, as opposed to being slammed with a rejection letter in December and spending Christmas break filling out applications to other schools!

Through all of the absolute insanity that my life is currently in, I’ve learned that it is vital to have fabulous time management skills and that I must actually SCHEDULE time to relax, otherwise I’ll go nuts. Yes, it sounds lame that I have to schedule time to relax like an appointment, but it works rather well for me. Senior year has provided a great trial run before college for me, as I have a significant amount of ordinarily unstructured time (only 2 hours of school, 4 days a week), as opposed to the usual high school student. I have come to the conclusion that it is better to formulate time management skills and study habits now, in high school, as opposed to college…for two primary reasons, 1) you’ll be more set in productive study habits if you start now (it’s not IMPOSSIBLE to teach an old dog new tricks, but the earlier, the better) and 2) It’s better to goof up in high school than in college where the repercussions will be greater.

Also, a note on the famous ‘senioritis’ — basically, don’t get it. I see so many of my friends at school that are completely bombing their senior year, and it’s not going to be pretty come May. There is nothing ‘cool’ about skipping school or not turning in assignments, in fact it’s pretty much just down right immature if you ask me. But everyone is different. The hard work we all do today will pay off in the years to come!
