Vocal Rest

ill in college
I can’t seem to kick this cold. At least I think it’s a cold… My nose is clear but I’ve got postnasal drip which is making my throat sore and my voice has recently desserted me. I don’t have a fever, I don’t feel bodily aches and pains, I do feel sleepy at the most random times, and I haven’t lost my appetite.
I hadn’t been coughing but the drip has gotten so bad now that I’m consistently swallowing or clearing my throat or coughing because if I try to ignore it, I feel like I’m trying to breathe with water in the back of my throat so I breath carefully or feel like I’m going to drown.

I blame this recent stupid weather, somedays it’s up to 60 like today, but then it gets down to 30 at night. Then tomorrow will be 28 all day and the following day will be 80. Each day is as unpredictable as unbiased roulette, thus my number 2 most popular website I visit is a weather website so I know what I’m getting into before I get dressed for the day.

Or maybe I have allergies I never knew about (please God don’t let that be so) like my suitemate Ashley. Apparently Austin has some allergens that we don’t have, or don’t have as strong of, in Dallas, so  people come down to school and discover that they have allergies and have to fight off sickness every few weeks. Ashley was sick like 7 times last semester. I haven’t been sick up till this past week and a half. It’s a trend my body follows pretty strictly, I don’t get sick except for once a year and then I’m very sick for quite a while. Maybe that’s what this is, but for whatever reason, it sucks.

I’m reluctant to go to the doctor, not because I have a phobia or anything, but because the days I feel the worst and feel I should go to the doctor, it’s cold and I don’t want to venture out to the opposite side of campus where the Student Health building is. I suppose this makes very little sense, but it’s a strong enough desire to keep me in my dorm room until Friday at 5 when I feel that I should suck it up and go but the offices are closed for the weekend already.
