Auditions!

auditions, college theater

AHHHH!!! Auditions for the mainstage shows next semester are this week. I literally just got back from my audition. I think it went alright? I sang Amazing grace, did a comedic monologue and a dramatic monologue–both of which I love because they mirror my life so well.  I was only supposed to bring in one monologue, so I did my serious one. Then they asked me if  I had anything lighter that I could show them, so luckily I’d been working on this one recently and was able to say yes! (Can you imagine how awkward if I’d had to say no?) I find out if I got a callback at the end of the week, so wish me “break a leg!” I really want to get cast, this would be my first real show in college and I’ve been missing the stage…

In other news, this past weekend was Easter and I got to go home for the first time this semester! It was too short though and I wish I could’ve had one more day–I didn’t really get to hang out with friends. But my roommate’s birthday was Friday so we had to stay in Austin and go home Saturday(returning to Austin Monday morning). My roommate came home with me and got to meet my new puppy at the same time as I did. The dog’s name is Cinderella, called Ella or Ellie, she’s a rescued mut and she’s very easy to fall in love with. By the time Monday rolled around, I was smitten and wanted to bring her back with me. I’ve been a little homesick and going home should’ve cured it, but because I wasn’t there long enough and hardly any of my friends were home, it didn’t.  Luckily, and sadly, my roommate and I calculated it and we really only have 5 weekends left here… about 35 more days.

Speaking of that, I have yet to entirely figure out what I’m going to do this summer! I know I’m going to take some classes and I’m thinking of getting a job (but what?). However, I’m not sure how that’s going to fill my summer from May 14th-August 10th. That’s a really long time! I suppose I should just relax, get tan, hang out with friends and play it by ear, but I’ve always felt like I needed to plan things out extensively and in advance. It’s just frustrating. I suppose I’ll come back to Austin a few times and maybe take some roadtrips with friends to visit other friends. Oh well, I’ll fill it in somehow.
And on the bright side, the sooner final grades come out, the sooner I hear the results of my application for double major! Which because of the class I’m taking right now, I’ve never wanted so badly.
