Lowered Standards

Baylor University has been said to be “lowering their standards.” In September of 2009, the first term or my freshman year, Baylor’s newspaper, The Lariat, published an article entitled, “Freshmen: Larger class, lower scores.”

What’s worse than a surprise party? A surprise president!

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it has happened. After one year, six months, twenty eight days, and roughly seven hours (just kidding on that last part) Baylor University went from having an eternal interim president, aka David Garland, and got an actual president!
Interestingly enough, Baylor gave the student body a good twenty four hour notice before the President’s formal introduction that there was, in fact, a new president. Just last week I heard talk of the odd fact that we didn’t and probably won’t have a president for a while. Hmm, I wonder how long this has been in the works?

Happiness is better!

Okay, I admit. The past post was pretty bad. I was quite down in the dumps yesterday. But like I said, I am an optimist, and things will get better. After I wrote that post I went outside to the beautiful snow and played around in it.

This isn’t how my first semester of college was supposed to be for me.

This isn’t how my first semester of college was supposed to be for me.

I had the guy. And the friends. It was going great. I was always busy with something or someone. But I feel like I’ve lost all that. I don’t have places to go anymore. College is hard.

I don’t mean that in the sense that the classes are hard. Not that they’re exactly easy. But just the whole experience. Yeah, its fun. You’ve got your parties and your school activities, and of course the infamous sports (although maybe not exactly at Baylor). That part is great. But they don’t prepare you for the loneliness.

Two homes, one heart.

Don’t get me wrong, being home for Thanksgiving is fantastic. But my heart is so confused! Its such an odd feeling, I’m not even sure if I can describe it. When I came home on Tuesday, I immediately realized how weird it felt! I feel as though I’m living two different lives. I’ve got all of my old friends from high school that are here for me when I come home, but I’ve also got all of my friends at Baylor. Being home really throws me off.

It’s Fall in Bear Country!

Well, it may not exactly be cold yet, but I can still see signs of fall! Baylor has a fantastically beautiful campus on its own, but when all the leaves are changing and there’s a slight chill in there air…there’s nothing like it.

Heads up from Baylor!

When I was a senior in high school I started my college adventure. I didn’t have to look long before I found Baylor University. From the moment I stepped on campus for my college visit, I knew it was where I belonged.
