So, I’ve been very bad about blogging this year, but part of it is that things have been going a lot better socially. I actually decided to rush a sorority this year and rush is going really well! At Trinity, the sororities are all local so, they don’t have any of those crazy rules that some of the national ones do and the rush process is 4 months long so, you are really able to feel that you belong to a certain one instead of just going on a whim after a week. It’s been SO much fun and I’ve gotten to meet a lot of people that I wouldn’t normally meet inside my music department bubble. Bid day is in February so, I’ll update about all of that then!

I have to confess that UK (go Wildcats!) has a special place in my heart, for various reasons. Lexington is a charming city, and nearby is Paris, KY and Bourbon County, Thoroughbred country. It is beautiful there, and I have family in Paris. My brother went to UK, my cousin went to UK, and when my cousin’s husband was in a terrible car accident UK air flighted him to their trauma center and saved his life. Plus the UK Wildcats Basketball program has been a dynamo for years.

I want to start by saying that my little sis in the sorority is perfect for me. Things have a funny way of turning out like that.. last year I didn’t know my big sis at all and now I can’t imagine having anyone else. We’ve gotten to know each other way better since we both live in the house and I think that our new “family” is just perfect for one another. My little, Serena, is going through all the rituals toward Initiation tonight that I cannot name on here because well.. I swore an oath not to reveal it and I think I’m more excited for her to go through it than I was for myself!

Well the holidays were great. I got a job at James Avery where I ended up spending most of the money I earned! I spent a lot of time with friends and family and I went on a weekend trip to Denver this past weekend where I saw my roommate, my friend Ian who is at school in Wisconsin and lives in Durango, CO, and I snowmobiled (it’s the BEST thing ever!) and skiied.
