The NEW Lynn University!

Lynn University has made some changes to their curriculum and programs….all for the better. I had a great meeting last week with Jan Macko, the Texas admission counselor who is a graduate of Lynn. Actually, Jan is from the Czech Republic. He came to Lynn as a international student and planned to spend a year. He never left!

They Said He Couldn’t Do It

Today I met the most remarkable man who has a most remarkable life story. I went to Leesburg, a small town in Central Florida, to visit Beacon College, a fully accredited 4-year college that specializes in working with kids with learning disabilities and ADHD. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. John Good, Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Outreach Programs, and he showed me around the school. The College of Charleston has announced that it will start a comprehensive program for learning different students in the Fall of 2010. The program will be known as REACH, Realizing Educational and Career Hopes. It takes the place of the LIFE program (Learning is for Everyone).

College for those with Asperger’s Syndrome

Many Asperger’s students have at least normal IQs, and many have exceptional talents and abilities. This year I had the pleasure of working with a young man with Asperger’s whom I found delightful; his sense of humor is acute, and his mathematical and scientific knowledge and aptitude is off the charts. Many Asperger’s students go on to college, but care must be taken, not only in the college environments from an academic standpoint, but also in housing and living skills.
